Hello thehurdherd,
Thanks for asking your question here in the Apple Support Communities. I understand how important it is to have my music across all my devices throughout the day. I also understand how the Apple Music settings differ between your iPhone and the Macbook Pro. I'm happy to provide you some information about Apple Music on your MacBook Pro.
The first thing you will need to check is that your MacBook Pro is currently able to use Apple Music. Apple Music requires OS X version 10.9.5 or later. If you are running OS X 10.9 to 10.9.4, go ahead and click on the App Store, then click the Updates tab up top and check for updates for OS X. If you are not currently running OS X 10.9.5, there is no option to upgrade to it anymore, but you can upgrade to OS X 10.11.5 using this link: Upgrade to OS X El Capitan, which is the latest and greatest operating system Apple offers, and will also work with Apple Music.
Once you have OS X 10.9.5 or later, this help article: About Apple Music states that Apple Music needs iTunes 12.2 or later. If you are not currently running iTunes 12.2 or later, please visit this link: Get the latest version of iTunes.
Once you have OS X 10.9.5 or later, and iTunes 12.2 or later, you will be ready to sign in to Apple Music on your MacBook Pro. This last article will help you get signed in to Apple Music on your Mac, and get your music synced: Sync Apple Music across your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and computer. Check the section titled 'On your Mac or PC' for your MacBook Pro.
